Sadly, yes. Breaks my heart. Just the other day I said to a 3rd grade boy, you remember working with me in 1st grade, right? He did, and I said “You were such a hugger.” He leaned in quietly and said, “I still kinda am.” 🥹

Yup. I work in education and most boys are trying so hard to navigate a world of mixed messages. Most are gentle, kind, and sensitive. They are often fiercely protective of their disabled peers. I’m just not willing to see them as monsters in training.

My kid’s behavioral health provider is leaving the practice, so now I get to hunt down someone who takes my insurance AND will do medication management for an autistic teenager before the script runs out. Living the fuckin dream.
