not to have sympathy for her and that fighting these systems of oppression/ racism requires a certain look on top of a certain demeanor.

It is also untrue and a dangerous way to silence a number of black women who identify with Johnnie.

treating the black women like crap, including Major Charity, she is reprimanded by Major Charity. Lena also does not apologize to Johnnie for taking her grief out on Johnnie for the dog tag situation.

Overall, I'm not keen on Johnnie's treatment bacause it sends a message that we are....

led to a bathroom meet up with the other girls and her expressing her grief about losing Abram. Additionally, Major Charirty acknowledges her pain and expresses that she is able to "put a face" to the mail backlog crisis.

Whereas when Johnnie gets visibly upset at the white officers for...

It's touching on the idea that "back women can't be angry" but ultimately sending a message that there is a way (and look) for black women to be angry. Unfortunately Johnnie doesn't have it.

This is best decipted by how the women receive Lena's anger and grief. Lena's anger over the dogtags ....

Johnnie is fat, escaping a marriage with 2 kids and an abusive husband( ie not a virgin, and definietly not quiet. But she is heavily criticized from the moment we meet her to change her behavior. Like damn she can't say "tiddies" in reference to her own body?
December 29, 2024 at 10:51 PM
Think their personalities in real life could be that way, I find it strange how the character of Johnnie was criticized for being emotional, hot tempered, and crass. It's even more concerning when you consider how different Lena and Johnnie's backgrounds are. Lena is thin, virginal, quiet...

I found myself tearing up multiple times just watching these black women continually rise to the challenge surpass it and still be scrutinized for exceeding expectations. For ex: THE WOMEN ARE IDENTIFYING LETTERS SENT THROUGH THE USA BY SMELL AND TYPES OF CLOTH!!

I feel like this could have passed in the 2000s or 2010s, but brother betraying brother because of girl is....dated.

I can't even say that Zarabi rejected Taka (Scar) cause he never told her he wanted her( to her face) to be as his queen. Zarabi was just smart enough to figure that the boys were lying to her and chose Mufasa. And this makes Taka go crazy enough to unalive his "brahh-ther"?
December 22, 2024 at 5:24 AM
And ya'll made Scar an incel for his origin story.....
December 22, 2024 at 5:24 AM
Upon seeing the trailer, I was bewildered by the obvious inclusion of Scar under the name taka and mufasa "orphaned" status. Immediately, I was like "what could Scar have done that was so bad that he is is shamed/looked down upon in Mufasa's pride but not excommunicated or de@d?"

Wtf?? Ain't no damn way that just happened.

I feel that council, diabolical as they are, could spin it that Mel wanted to benfit from Ambessa's take over to oust some older members and install noxus/zaun affiliated members. Sevika without allies, would be bullied off the council which would possibly reignite those piltover tensions.
December 20, 2024 at 4:29 AM
Still Zaun is being looked down upon.

I know this sets up more to explore in Noxus and other regions. But I feel like this leaves Zaun in the same place that it started (maybe even worse). In fact, I am worried that Sevika and Mel's positions could be striped away.
December 20, 2024 at 4:29 AM
They litterally lived under martial law 2 episodes before this. And 2. One of the council members, who didn't fight in the war, was giving Sevika dirt looks. This suggests that those tensions are definetly still present and that the sacrifices of Zaunites is not valuable to some in piltover. So..

Mel and Ambessa brings this issue to the surface more easily.

With Sevika taking a seat on the council in the end, I do see a nod those to tensions. But 1. Only a nod? In the wake of a war in which Zaun pays the ultimate toll for because economic, social, and political disparities?...
December 20, 2024 at 4:29 AM
attending to the Piltover and Zaun's tensions would have been something she was actively addressing earlier. Honestly, all of the council members systematically fail in unifying piltover & zaun through their negligence. So it's not Mel's fault entirely. However, the familial relationship between...

Was necessary for her to stand up to her mother. In a physical sense, yes. She needed to " become the wolf" but being a "wolf" means nothing to Zaun, where they can barely breath. In a political sense, especially with Mel's sensitivities,
