Currently catching up on the Matt Fraction/Jorge Jiménez Batman run; terrific stuff #Batman #ComicSky

Had to battle my way through the rain from @goshcomics.bsky.social to the Piccadilly Circus tube with my copy of Batman/Deadpool #1 tucked inside my jacket, but it made it home in one piece 😅 #comics #ComicSky #Batman #Deadpool

Batman/Deadpool: The plan is to swing by a comic book store en route to Perfect Blue and pick up Grant Morrison and Dan Mora's inter-company crossover, which by all accounts is way better than it needs to be!

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk: Recently got gifted a copy of Team Reptile's spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio, so I'm all geared up to reawaken my (barely dormant) inner Dreamcast Stan.

Task: This HBO series passed me by during its initial run, but with plenty of time to kill between now and the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere, I figure I'll see what all the fuss is about.

Perfect Blue: While everyone else is seeing Wicked: For Good this week, I'm going to a Prince Charles Cinema screening of Perfect Blue. I've been meaning to cross Satoshi Kon's 1997 anime psycho-thriller off my list for a while now, so Elphaba and Glinda will have to wait!

I did not clock that Batman/Deadpool was a store-only exclusive at launch until I went to buy a digital copy today. Guess I'll be heading to my local comic book shop this weekend (which is exactly what DC and Marvel are going for here, so bravo) #ComicSky

Spider-Man: Life Story: I've been making my way through Marvel's "Life Story" line on-and-off for a while now, and Chip Zdarsky and Mark Bagley's series — which reimagines Peter Parker's history as a cohesive, alt-history saga — is my favourite of the bunch.

Fallout: New Vegas: In anticipation of Fallout Season 2 coverage, I'm revisiting Obsidian Entertainment's action-RPG classic over the next few weeks. Really fun being back in New Vegas; it's such a vivid setting you almost don't notice how much the game's 2010 graphics have aged!

Pluribus: I'm ride-or-die with Vince Gilligan, so there's no way I'm sitting out his new show. That it's a sci-fi drama AND stars Rhea Seehorn are just more icing on the cake.

Frankenstein: Guillermo del Toro. Mary Shelley. Oscar Isaac. Old-school production techniques. I am so, so in.

Found that Phantom sketch 👌🏻

Latest addition to my library: @mattleone.bsky.social’s Like a Hurricane: An Official Oral History of Street Fighter II. Fun fact: if you press high kick while holding the book, it spins on the spot multiple times #streetfighter #videogames

The ‘80s called: they want their improbably dressed sword-and-sorcery female warrior back 😅 Jokes aside, I’m pretty proud of this one, not because it’s perfect (it’s very much not; check out Robert Marzullo’s course over at Gumroad to see how much I got wrong), but because I finished it. #clipstudio

Adventureman: It can't all be horror this week (frankly, I'm just not built for it). That's why I'm cracking open Volume 1 of Matt Fraction, Terry Dodson, and Rachel Dodson's pulpy Image Comics series, which has been sitting in my backlog for years at this point.
October 27, 2025 at 12:30 PM
The Walking Dead: The Final Season: I'm currently working on Walking Dead-centric Spooky Season feature, so going back and finishing the Telltale Games series was a must. Nice to finally see how Clementine's story wraps up!
October 27, 2025 at 12:30 PM
IT: Welcome to Derry: It's Stephen King time on the small screen this week, too! I'm not covering HBO's IT prequel series in a professional capacity (at this stage, at least), which means I get to just sit back and enjoy each episode as it comes.
October 27, 2025 at 12:30 PM
The Shining: Stanley Kubrick's classic Stephen King adaptation is one of the best-looking (and sounding) movies in my 4K collection, so OF COURSE it's getting a run this Halloween.

Just blitzed through the first two Detective Comics “Batman: New Gotham” trades, and it’s impossible to overstate just how hard Dave Johnson’s covers go #Batman #DC #ComicSky

Ice Cream Man: I want to do a feature on horror in comics as part of this year's Spooky Season Spotlight Series, which means I'm finally cracking open the nine (nine!!!) volumes of W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo's anthology series sitting in my backlog.
October 6, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Hades: You probably didn't hear since no one was talking about it at all last week, but Microsoft has jacked up the Game Pass subscription price. So, I'm using my final free month to wrap up the unfinished games (including Hades) currently installed on my console.
October 6, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Slow Horses: Watching Gary Oldman sass (and fart) his way through London-based spy shenanigans is my platonic ideal of comfort TV, so obviously Slow Horses Season 5 is top of my watch list this week. The Peacemaker Season 2 finale will get a run, too.
October 6, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Tron: Ares: I'm on deadline for a third-party outlet this week, but all things going to plan, I should have a review of the third Tron instalment up in time for launch.

The organ player rising up and down out of the floor before the VistaVision screening of One Battle After Another at Odeon Leicester Square last night was magical. It was also as close to being in a real-life Simpsons bit as I’ve ever been.
