I have lots of opinions. Some of them are even consistent.
Ok. Lets's go with that. So they demand impeachment. They then draw up the bill and it fails in the house the next day. What next? And, more importantly, other than scratching that "Gotta DO Something" itch for a day or two, how will the situation actually have changed?

Those who voted for Trump were either stupid, evil, or some combination of both.

I do not agree. Acting like MAGA is some just some sort of scam and not a mirror that reflects a significant portion of americans, is deluded. These people are heinous, but there are enough of them that here we are, again, watching as they gleefully vandalize the country.

As Orwell wrote: "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever."

These stories really drive home the sheer amount of energy that southern rascists will commit to perpetuating Jim Crow. The voting rights act was 60 years ago. The civil war ended 160 yrs ago. And yet, these southern rascists are undiminished in their intent to dominate and control black people.

Just about anyone who can be compared to Trump is also a "smarter version." Trump must be the most demonstrably stupid person in history to ever hold high office who wasn't born into it.

There's literally a slow motion coup going on these people are protesting the rich for being... rich. Crazy! And before you pile on writing that it's about his bootlicking, have you seen how university presidents, top law firms and media companies have caved? Why expect so much more from Bezos?

Lifetime appointments to the federal bench address the distortion that political ambition brings. Just look at the charging decisions that politically ambitious DAs make to see how bad it could be. Lifetime judicial appointments have their downsides, but they are preferable to the alternative.

I agree with you on that. My original point was that negatively comparing congressional dems with Newsom's recent action is somewhat unfair in that Newsom actually has power. The redistricting plan, if successful, does change facts on the ground.
August 24, 2025 at 3:19 PM
Yes. This is a valid criticism. I think Schumer has been too agreeable and business as usual in confirmations. I'm not so sure the House dems could have slowed things down much.
August 24, 2025 at 2:53 PM
You're expressing dissatisfaction with congressional dems' performance during Trump's 2nd term. I am simply asking what you would have done differently.
August 24, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Let's unpack this. What do you mean by fight? What measures should the house Democrats have taken that they have not, and how would our situation be any different now if they had taken these actions?
August 24, 2025 at 2:36 PM
The California redistricting plan is not performative. You know this. Again, what exactly did you expect Jeffries to have done other than scratch your itch for pointless political performance art?
August 24, 2025 at 2:32 PM
What *exactly* did you expect the leader of minority party in the house to have done that he has not that isn't performative? He can't change the menu at house cafeteria without GOP votes, and you expect him to have stemmed all this lawlessness?
August 24, 2025 at 2:22 PM
I don't know... it might have something to do with the California redistricting effort? Did you think I was referring to mean tweets?
August 24, 2025 at 2:17 PM
There's a difference between a sitting governor in a solidly blue state and a congressman in the minority party. The difference is power. Check your tweets. Most likely the mockery was directed at insane calls for Jeffries et al to "do something"

Un-American f*ckers! When this is all over, they should all be named, shamed, dismissed, and, in some extreme cases, prosecuted. The punishment for enabling an authoritarian power grab should be so bitter and well learned that it will be another 150 yrs before anyone seriously tries this again.
August 23, 2025 at 6:23 PM
That's exactly it! They are bomb throwers, not builders, and never will be.

If the ratings leader in the late night talk was not financially viable, how is it that #2 and #3 are still viable or at least not canceled? If you are going to step up and make the claim that finances were the reason, shouldn't you have addressed that? Your claim is not credible as you left it.

I am glad I saw this. I didn't know hummingbird nests looked like this. If I saw something like this near my patio, I would have probably assumed it was some sort of insect construction and left to fetch a broom.

Yes! The Borg were great enemie, and that two-parter was probably the high point ofStar Trekk tv. I would say, though, that the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had the Vogons bellowing "Resistance is Useless" in the early 1980s well before TNG.
July 19, 2025 at 4:29 AM
If I watch a TNG episode these days, and that is rare, I choose an episode from season three or later. The first two seasons were hard enough to watch when the episodes aired the first time.

It can be a soulsucking experience to work retail, which I have done. The response is to either harden up or do something else. Celebrating doing a job crappily because the job itself is crappy is something I will never do. Yeah, people do respond like that, but it is hardly a badge of honor.
