Legendary pool promoter George Jansco was born on Aug. 8, 1915 and died on June 4, 1969. Along with his brother Paulie, he launched the famous Johnston City all-around tournaments of the 1960s. Read more about him at poolhistory.com.

Alfredo De Oro, the Cuban billiards star, was among the first inductees into the BCA Hall of Fame. He also mounted a championship career to rival that of Ralph Greenleaf or any of the other lions. He was born April 28, 1863. Read more at PoolHistory.Com #poolhistory

Born March 7, 1913, Masako Katsura was nicknamed "Katsy" and sometimes called the "First Lady of Billiards." Active during the 1950s, Katsura became Japan's only female pro player and took 2nd place in the country's national three-cushion billiards championship three times. #billiardshistory

Rest in peace Danny DiLiberto, who won national titles across multiple disciplines during a career that spanned four decades. He was also a member of the BCA and One-Pocket Halls of Fame, and a beloved Accu-Stats commentator. Mr. DiLiberto was born on , Feb. 19, 1935 and died on Feb. 11, 2025.

On Feb. 2, 1985, Efren Reyes showed up anonymously for a 9-ball open in Houston. This was Reyes' first known appearance in the US. The packed field included many of the nation’s top players, including Earl Strickland, but Reyes (traveling under the name Cesar Morales) won.
