If you’re a journalist, I recommend reading In Cold Blood, Truman Capote’s 1967 non-fiction book on the murders of a family in Kansas. Be mindful that it was banned at least twice for its language and gory descriptions of violence. There’s also an eponymously titled film on Capote.
