Mom, spouse, musician, gamer, crafty in every sense of the word, actor, student, human. With titanium in my spine and rage in my heart.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bury my head in the sand and try to get through this weekend pretending everything is fine because otherwise, I will go postal.
TL;DR - I hate our fucked-up reality. This *is* the worst timeline.

THIS IS THE REALITY OF THE MAJORITY OF THE COUNTRY. The US is no mecca. It is a cesspool of capitalist wastelands and hatred. Stay far, far away.

Our front porch has broken windows we are trying to replace with plexiglass because we can't afford real glass. And the windows that are in great shape (bless you, Gram) mostly can't be opened because the screens have been damaged by pets and storms and years of use, and we can't replace them.

Our roof is 15 years overdue for replacement. Like, shingles are shredding, holding our breath that this winter won't be the one that finally sees leaking start, overdue. We do not have $20,000 to replace it. Nor even the $12-15k to do it ourselves, which we are physically unable to do.

We do own our home. However, it is 100 years old. It has asbestos insulation around some of the basement pipes. We cannot add central air conditioning or even replace our heater without disturbing it, which would mean a HazMat crew and greater expense.

We have 3 vehicles, all paid off. Only one of them is functional. One is totally dead. The other is still repairable at this point, but we can't afford the repairs. There is NO WAY we can afford another car to replace it. The 3 of us in the household share the one vehicle. For everything.

Heaven forbid an emergency happens, or a car breaks down. When something inevitably happens, we are fucked.

We are better off than some, in that we own our home and have a relatively low payment. We also have a 2nd mortgage. We are able to pay our bills and not starve and still manage to afford our medications most months. But not always. And even when we do, it can take us down to an empty bank account.
