For their birthday in July, I took a friend to an art exhibition by one of their favourite artists, Yayoi Kusama, called 'You, Me and the Balloons'. I hadn't seen any of their work before and was instantly fascinated. More so after discovering how intricately-linked it is with her mental wellbeing 💚
Panoramic photograph taken in the first room of the exhibit, the entirety of which (floor, walls and ceiling) has been covered with overlapping tentacle-like strips of yellow polka dots on a black background. Throughout the room there are also 10 or so large inflated rubber tentacles twisting from the floor to the ceiling with the same pattern. Was completely captivating in-person and visually very striking Photograph overlooking the main exhibit hall from a balcony level above. Various inflated rubber sculptures are arranged throughout, including a giant pumpkin, a giant representation of a girl wearing polka dot clothing, a large polka dot dog, and more tentacles towards the back. The reflections cause an optical illusion, making the overall view seem like it goes on forever in every direction, but is really just a small cube within a slightly bigger sphere. Elsewhere in the exhibit, there was a room that you could walk into that had exactly the same look and shape to it as this miniature version, making it feel like you had now entered the small world you saw here earlier

One of the things I like most about board games is how tactile they are, especially the ones with more elaborate play pieces. Feels much more fun moving around a play piece or using tokens that are just that bit more immersive 💚

Catch-up post from March when it snowed heavily and made the views around our new house look amazing. Lots of pure, crisp whites against the soft browns of house bricks, rooftops, bare trees, bushes, etc. It felt very cosy despite the cold, but then I've always preferred that to heat anyway 💚

Flashback to when this M&S Valentine's Day milk chocolate sausage dog called Walter became a whole other thing entirely. Pretty sure they knew!

There's even a line between his tail and body making it look like head and shaft instead. Photo shows just how phallic it all looks. I definitely think they knew!

After a couple of full/cancelled trains, finally on my way to Manchester to hang out with friends for the weekend. If you're wondering what the journey is like, it's only an hour from Leeds and has some, errr, nice scenery, haha 😅💚

The Leeds Liverpool canal can just be seen spanning across the middle of the shot. Very picturesque! And then there's this (somewhat NSFW). One of the 'No Smoking' signs in the station has had a small sticker, about 2cm, placed over it. In other words, big enough to get your attention, but small enough that you have to go right up to it to see what it is. Surprise, the sticker is of a bearded man sat down and seen from below him. He's smiling and giving two thumbs up, and he's completely naked besides a baseball cap, but with the eggplant emoji 🍆 censoring his bits. No idea if it's a local or a celebrity I don't know of, but he seems pleased with himself
