National investment in science and technology used to be a bipartisan priority for good reason. It has ensured American prosperity for the past century. I never thought we would be in a place where this basic reality was in question.

With the presidents’ budget proposing to cut NASA science by more than 50%, a reminder that much of that is technology development, not duplicated by any private company. Once destroyed, the expertise that was built up over decades does not return. What a way to lose American leadership.
