I will have spent more than I paid for him in 2 months in vet bills, insurance is covering maybe a third of it if I’m lucky and then I still need a new saddle when everything is said and done so if anyone has a get rich quick scheme for me now would be a great time

Yesss I’ve been walking him over poles of different heights and shifting weight back and forth without worrying about actually backing up and throwing in occasional belly lifts

I haven’t been riding because he’s been off so I do think just not having any weight on those muscles has had a lot to do with how quickly he’s filled in, but it ALWAYS feels like the last thing to build. Just working on correcting posture and everything else. And we likely have ulcers too 🙃

😭😭😭😭😭

It always feels so hard but it’s def something easy and quick to work on if there’s a day you don’t have the time or will to ride!!! And you should start seeing a difference quickly!

That’s ok, you can find someone to help!!!

Thank you, me too. It’s been a long road and there’s still more ahead of us, but I feel like we are on the right track!
First pic here is Sept 2023, second is last week, looking like a hunkin spice latte

Also adding that the bulk of this was improvement in the past two or three months and I haven’t used a single “tool” to achieve it!!!
March 26, 2025 at 5:35 PM
More to go but really thrilled with the progress so far!!!

We also discovered he’s one degree negative in his hind feet which puts strain on the low back, so that’s another thing being addressed. I have only been doing in hand walk work for a few months while getting him sorted out and planned to replace the saddle long before all of this.
March 26, 2025 at 4:44 PM
Yes, and naturally it’s more than one thing! Despite his saddle being a decent fit for him, it’s a poor fit for me so that was likely one factor. He also had a muscle biopsy performed early this month which came back positive for Myofibrillar Myopathy.

Your vet is a saint

As a 5’3” individual with a 17.1 horse…..HUSH (oh and hey also while you’re here can you help me get something down off of a tall shelf? Thanks)
March 18, 2025 at 3:02 PM
How tall are you 🤨
March 17, 2025 at 11:18 PM
That would be such a dream 🥲
March 5, 2025 at 1:51 PM
I hope you get the opportunity to do so!! It’s truly invaluable and helps so much when you know what to aim for when bringing a green one along
March 5, 2025 at 3:05 AM
I suspect Myofibrillar myopathy so he’s getting a muscle biopsy this week, but if that’s not it I’m gonna have to do advanced imaging. Rads suggest mild
KS and early signs of high ringbone, the latter of which has no symptoms

If my horse ever becomes sound again I will be saddle shopping soooooo
