FLASHLIGHT: everyone knows it, nothing's changed. UV FLASHLIGHT: A nod to the illuminator Mark V. Batteries charge shorter, y'know. (reference) SHAKELIGHT: obvious rooms reference, but maybe also tattletail, because of a reasonable battery life. BULB-LIGHT: something original. sort of like the lantern, but with different stages of luminosity and more wand-like. Ponder the orb.

here's some of my personal best works
ZPEEDER, a gameboy-colored racing spaceship. A weird mining elevator that's just suspended by a chain, within a rocky brown tunnel with greenery covering the sides. I used two Gameboy palettes to make this. Prompt and Effect are made using my custom EGA palette. I'll post the palette in a reply if anyone wants it.

Threat detected!! The Eye is another mechanic to handle monster interactions. Red obviously means you've been spotted. A chase is afoot! This creature is meant to act like a rabid frog-dog thing. It can leap as far as it can run. Always likes to leap in order to dive-attack. A Space Station. Most sprite designs are from Sonic 2 (Chemical Plant / Death Egg). Drives the point home, does it? The Oxgyn (Oxygen) meter is another potential feature. Also, that's a gummy shakelight he has, ala Tattletail and Rooms. The bar is the power meter, the middle light is it's on/off switch, and the last thing is how the shaking motion is seen. I try to put some character to how it'd work.

i made more of the top right, here's a few:
The Start of the spot. Since this a yume nikki/omori world, it'd be fair to tell you this is a nod to the famicom world, but in a different approach. Most sprites are heavily taken from Friday the 13th, and Super Mario Bros. 2 & 3. The lone door is probably an entrance point. An inside view of the cabin. Actually original this time, but mostly from Friday the 13th. A nightly stroll. ...sorta. The flashlight HUD is a sort of nod to Rooms, from Roblox. [100] represents it's power, the [02] is the extra batteries. In a Afraid state, Red Hearts can't regenerate.
