Fall 2024 in Ashland, New Hampshire. My trip was timed perfectly; it was just after tourist season had ended, but the colors lingered for one more week. It's always fascinating to see how complex natural processes result in something so beautiful. #Nature 🌱 #Travel 🌐 #Photography 📷 #SciArt 🐡

One benefit of being stuck in quarantine: I have plenty of free time to work on my projects. Here are some photos from my recent trip up to New England, specifically Portland, Maine. #Photography 📷 #Travel 🌐

Well, while I'm working on new photos, here are some from my trip to The Philippines earlier in 2024. Hopefully they'll give you some travel inspiration for 2025! #Photography 📷 #Travel 🌐 #Beach 🐚

-Folding knife. Great for cutting food, opening boxes, etc.

-Leggings. I do at least 1 hour of hiking for my cardio every day. Leggings are great for keeping warm and reducing chafing.

-My DSLR camera. Yeah, it's bigger and clunkier than a phone. But it's so much better quality/safer for wildlife.

I post lots of nature photos! Some travel and urban photos as well, but mostly nature. Here are some of mine from Hawaii, Utah, Alaska, and Colorado:

Periodic reminder that California has tons of spectacular natural wonders. So if you're already here in the state or are thinking about a trip next year, here are just a few awesome places: Muir Woods, Sequoia National Park, Burney Falls, and Lassen Volcanic National Park. #SciArt 🐡 #Photography 📷

I'm busy editing photos from my recent trip to Canada and New England. Here are a few shots from the Flume Gorge in New Hampshire. This is where I stopped when I was in New England in 2022; I had to turn around due to storms/lack of time. I picked up where I left off, got to see fall colors! 🌱 📷 🧪

Thanks! The last time I was in Alaska was in August 2019. I don't know when/if I'll make it back up there. Here, have a few more photos!

If you see this, post your orange art!

One of the great things about photography is how it heightens your sense of spatial awareness. Combine it with a love of science, and you can understand nature in different ways. Consider what the American Southwest looks like from above. #SciArt 🐡 #SciComm 🧪

By the way, I was going to leave Twitter once they announced their new policies regarding is AI training and royalties for images. It's a real shame, as I just got back from an epic trip in northeastern Canada and New England. Here's a little preview of what's to come with my photography:

@colbear.bsky.social, May I join your Marine Life feed? I offer a green turtle I came across in Hawaii. It was photographed from a long, safe distance using a telephoto lens and a lot of patience. #marinelife 🦑

Let's try that flower feed again, this time with 🌱 in it. New site, new rules... Have some Victoria amazonica, AKA the Amazon Water Lily. It's among the largest of its kind, with leaves reaching up to 3 m (10 ft) in diameter. Taken at the the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. #NatureArt
