Dorsal rootlet nerve bundles immunostained for collagen IV (blue), UCHL1 (green) & neuropeptide (red/yellow). These sensory nerves carry information about pain, temperature, pressure, vibration, etc to the spinal cord and then to the brain to inform us about our physical condition.

Ripples in sand from eons before any multicellular life on Earth. Decayed from a road cut under a billion year old lava flow and found at Cutface Creek on the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. The moonlit scene on this ancient shore was devoid of nothing but life and familiar stars.
