Happy Birthday to the wonderful Oliver Robins the talented actor and director. His portrayal of Robbie Freeling in Poltergeist 1 and 2 still resonate after more than 40 years. Hope you're having a great day Oliver!!

This is an original production used POLTERGEIST script that I recently purchased. It's dated "FIRST DRAFT February, 1981" on the light blue cover which has faded. It was owned by someone in the sound dept and includes fascinating memos, including the sound editing budget for Poltergeist.

Joe Haldeman's novelization of 'POLTERGEIST' was being publicised as late as January 1982, just a few short months before the films release. Sadly Joe's version was never released, although a few proof bound galleys did find there way into the Collector market and are hugely sought-after

A special thanks to writer Joe Haldeman for his humour and warmth whilst talking to me. Joe is best known for his Hugo Award winning novel ‘The Forever War.’ In 1981 Steven Spielberg picked him to write the novelization to ‘Poltergeist’. Joe finished his novel adaptation, but it was never released.

I've often thought that the unused version of 'The Beast' inspired the appearance of Dan Aykroyd's hitchhiking ghoul in Twilight Zone The Movie (1983). Both were created by Craig Reardon and it was shot only a few short months after the release of Poltergeist in 1982

On this day - May 11 1981, principal photography on 'Poltergeist' began. The first scene shot was an exterior by the newly moved cemetery, overlooking the housing complex and Teague (James Karen) offers Steve (Craig T. Nelson) a full partnership

The second time Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg joined forces was for Spielberg's short lived TV series 'Amazing Stories'. Hooper is seen here directing the season 2 episode 'Miss Stardust' which aired on this day in 1987
