I now have an “X” on both my most recent driver’s license and my passport. And who knows what the future is there in a government sense. However, in this moment, I wanted to honor learning to trust who I’ve always known I am, and say goodbye to the person I was.

This piece was really special. The photo was from my first ID in NYC when I was just coming out as nonbinary and when I was still presenting higher femme than I felt inside. Making this postcard felt like an official goodbye to the old me.
