went mushrooming. didn’t find what we were looking for but these looked pretty. anyone know what they are?
a whole lot of mushrooms growing in the woods. they’re tan-ish - almost white at the rim and darker brown near the top. a white mushroom with little white bumps all over. It’s kind of elliptical. there are no gills and it’s growing in the woods - maybe on a decaying piece of wood. the mushroom is a little out of focus. six little tan mushrooms growing in the woods. the surface is kind of soft and fuzzy looking. they have no gills and might be some sort of puffball but maybe not. basically they look like puffy blobs growing out of the ground. they’re kind of cute.

the mason bees are starting to do what mason bees do. it’s my first year with a bee house and i’m so happy to have a little patch of a yard where a little bit of nature chooses to live.

it’s that time of year for rough skinned newts. a little more on that in the alt text.
rough skinned newts in a stream. there are two male newts but also there’s the tail of a third smaller female newt poking out from under one of the males. it’s that time of year for newts who return to the water for mating activities.

(actually my daughter sent the photo so I can’t give details or take any credit. But it brought me joy that she felt joy in seeing the turtles and I’m happy for the connection with her and her appreciation of things like turtles.)

fava beans. just because. and because everything else feels overwhelming.
dry broad Windsor fava beans with black string tied around their middles. the horizontal line from the string is lined up with the string of the bean next to it making a black horizontal lines across each row of beans. there are four rows, each with either 6 or 7 beans - in a grid. on a textured background. that’s it. just beans, string and textured paper.

instead of things that matter here are some wild cucumber seeds. Marah oreganus is native in Oregon but not edible which might be why it’s one of the few things growing in my yard that haven’t been eaten by deer.

English ivy flower buds. It’s invasive here but I do kinda like the look of the buds.
