Gifted ≠ smartest, not all arrive gifted, potential can grow, no two are alike, no one-size classroom, and many remain unseen - especially minority & low-income kids

6 Common Myths About Gifted Education (UVA Kaleidoscope Project): Gifted = smartest. Gifted kids aren’t always the top students; boredom can mask ability. All show up gifted. Early advantages often reflect environment, not innate talent. Giftedness can’t be developed. Both nature and nurture shape potential. All gifted kids are alike. They vary widely in strengths and needs. One-size classroom fits all. Gifted students require differentiated experiences. Most gifted are identified. Many are overlooked, especially minority and low-income students.
