That would also explain why Sara and the rest of Heaven's leadership are not really open to outside help, they've spent thousands of years managing a realm full of literal children so their citizens are probably not really equipped to be helpful.

Saw it in IMAX when I was a kid and could not finish the movie. I don't remember it being the animation style specifically, it's just weirdly high stress for a Christmas movie
