Finished it. There is a near-death experience but not the kind I was expecting. What it does have is a bittersweet ending and a sequel double the word count that takes place 5 years later-
Survived that last hour of work on nothing except the thought of how absolutely delicious a near-death experience would be in the fanfiction I am currently reading. Now I'm exhausted AND full of expectations
