Anyways, I also have alternate characters creation guidelines and some other system tweaks if anyone is interested in hearing about this project. Or, if you want to play in it, I have a listing up for a campaign with this system on StartPlaying.Games

Thematically, I feel it shows how important those anchors to reality (Logos themes) can be in maintaining your grip on Sanity in the face of the vast unknown and emphasizes how slippery that slope can be once you start down that path. 6/7

Or b) continue the scene with Sanity-5 and risk hitting Sanity-6, losing your whole mind and becoming an NPC in control of the MC. If you survive the scene, then you lower your Sanity track by X where X is # of Logos themes you have. It's a big gamble, but it can sometimes be worth it. 5/7

Mechanically, this choice is represented as a) suffer a mental break - burn X mythos power tags, where X is the # of mythos themes you have, and decrease your Sanity track by X where X is the # of Logos themes you have, then mark a Crack on one of those Logos themes. 4/7

I do this through my constructed use of my Sanity system for this. Sanity is a status track (ala core CoM) that when filled to 5 prompts a choice in the player. Do you suffer a mental break and lose a part of yourself or do you risk it push further and potentially snap and lose it all? 3/7

I love the way that CoM implements change of identity as part of the narrative arc mechanically and the idea of growth through the challenges of facing your weaknesses. It's one of my favorite parts of CoM and I found it to be a great way to highlight the effects of the unknown on the PCs. 2/7
