Ray-tracing isn't going to get retired as gaming tech simply because it can make the workflow for artists substantially easier. ID Software's Billy Khan says that RTGI in Dark Ages saved time that would've been wasted on doing the same look rendered out on the CPU. www.eurogamer.net/digitalfound...

32 bit physx is absolutely broken since its built on x87 without any multi-threading, meaning performance can never really be brute forced on the CPU. 64-bit Physx is fine and has been used since 2015, and can play nice on AMD cards if you build your game around it, like Control.
