DoD natural resource managers use the AKN to share the bird data that they collect with other agencies and organizations to best support bird conservation across jurisdictional boundaries.

Great question! The DoD manages 27M acres of wildlife habitat & has a legal mandate to protect and steward the natural resources they manage. They play a key role in bird conservation globally and rely on the AKN to manage data, track trends, and inform data-driven conservation management decisions.
