I used TeamViewer for remote access to Dad's computer. It's free for personal use. It worked well and that was 10 years ago.
I wrote, thanking them for saving my sanity during the last 2 years. They were delighted, saying that's their big motivation (although the commercial licenses pay the bills).

It's not "gold-soaked". There might be some gilt but most of it is just gold colored paint. It's a pretty good metaphor for his entire administration.

I just always close that window. It comes around again after I reboot but it leaves me alone until then.

Every time it tries to insist I set up my syncing icons, I ignore it. If it tries to force me to give it my data, I don't want to use it.
I haven't set up Dropbox to correctly backup stuff but I still won't use OneDrive.
