I spend most of my time birding in the US Pacific Northwest.
The island of Genovesa in the Galapagos archipelago is mind boggling.

Just a regular Friday morning walk around Espanola, one of the islands in the Galapagos archipelago. Blue footed boobies!

I had plans last week. They fell through. So I made a new plan. This one worked out just fine. My friend and I saw nine California Condors. Nine. I was hoping to get a glance at 1. I even got some not great pics where the tags are clearly legible. This bird - 943 - hatched at Oregon Zoo in 2018

Black-chinned hummingbirds show up yearly in my home county, but they're still considered rare enough for an alert and I still get excited to see them.

Did a road trip over the weekend and my birds of the trip were these peregrine falcons near Gold Beach, OR. They were yelling at each other (and maybe me?) while perched above the Pistol River.

Y'all. I have reported at least 2 dozen of these birds but only by sound because they're super skulky and I had just never seen one. And hoo buddy I have tried.

I co-led a walk at our nearby wetlands today and saw FOUR!

Sora, a cutie patootie rail that's smaller than a robin. SO CUTE!

I have a goal to find 11 more lifers (species I haven't previously seen) this year.

This afternoon I found one!
