I often think about this memorial we have along the waterfront in Portland. It emphasizes the grave injustice we did to Japanese Americans during WWII. Congress formally apologized in 1988. The plaque on the right is written by Ronald Reagan. Worth a read.

Most of the books on war that I've read have been as I've looked for family stories. One of my favs is about the two of Concord, MA leading up to and including the first battle. "The Minutemen and their world." Joseph Hosmer was my favorite person to learn about.
