America 250, brought to you by... sugar. Two recent sponsors of America250 are Domino Sugar and Florida Crystals. I am sure there is no connection between this and the push to get Coca Cola (also a sponsor) to use cane sugar. america250.org/our-partners...

When I moved to America, I spent a year in Ohio. This 2005 Cleveland Indians lineup, along with CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee, introduced me to baseball.

This was one of the most amazing weeks. I met so many inspiring teachers and I'm excited to see what they accomplish over the next year. So thankful to get to work with @civiced.org and their programs. Also, Wyoming might be one of the most beautiful places I've been.

Also, Scotts Miracle-Gro is the latest America250 sponsor. If they spent their money well, we should expect an announcement in the next few days about Marijuana legalization at the federal level. www.barrons.com/articles/sco...

Meta is no longer listed as a sponsor for America250. However, since this original post 3 days ago, they have added Exiger and Phorm Energy (which I guess is Dana White's energy drink?). Definitely some trends in these companies.

The listed sponsors for America250 tell a story. The UFC, coinbase, and Palantir sponsorships are pretty recent.

Rishi Sunak at the IPL (Indian cricket) final. Definitely a different post-PM approach than Truss.

One recent addition is Ari Abergel as executive director. He was a producer for Fox and Friends (the ultimate Trump administration qualification). He was also recently named to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. He doesn't seem to possess any other qualifications for this position. 2/3

I've been keeping an eye on the America 250 Commission and it has changed a lot since Trump took office, noticeably with the firings of leaders at the Archives, NEA, NEH, and now the Library of Congress. This screenshot is from January and only Lonnie Bunch remains (for now). a quick 🧵 1/3

I loved my time working with the Global Irish Studies program at Georgetown. It gave me a great opportunity to examine my US-based question in a comparative context and I got to attend some phenomenal events. 4/4

Yearbooks are a great tool to see how previous students viewed events like inaugurations. The pictures below show a change in attitudes (or at least editors) toward Richard Nixon at his two inaugurations. Check out my article and thread 🧵 about using yearbooks in the classroom.

And, as a bonus, my favorite story from the amazing 1975 Georgetown yearbook.
