Rug of the Day
Big fabulous kilim from (?) Konya seen in Turkish restaurant Haggle* in Norwich with similar one courtesy of Mr Google.

*so called because all furnishings were bought in the Istanbul souks, so the owner tells me. Food was also fabulous!

Rug of the Day

Detail from an old carpet of my acquaintance. Identified by AI as, variously, an Anatolian rug, a Safavid textile or a piece of embroidered canvas work. What do you think?

Rugs of the Day

Weight is an issue. This thick wool tapestry weighs 13 kg, so you need to put up strong rails.

Went to Dungeness today. Derek Jarman's cottage more suburban street than liminal idyll, IMHO. The rest of the area was much more interesting.

Loving these structures in Hastings - three-storey sheds for storing the different nets and tackle the fishermen needed to catch the different types of fish arriving off the coast in three different seasons.

TIL: John Betjeman owned Henry James' morning suit and later passed it on to John Wells. Apparently, Betjeman was exactly the same size as James. I find this utterly charming.
