A few days ago I made the joke that by the end of the year, Andy Burnham could be president of the United Republic of GB & NI. Today, I'm not so sure anymore that this is just a joke.

And afterwards claim that "I made 50% richer than the median, that's an outstanding achievement for which I should be remembered and praised. My successors can do the next 50%."

Gabriel Gatehouse's excellent documentary "Seeking Satoshi" provides an insight into the weird beliefs of some of the Tech Bros.

Ironically, the Palantir are devices that Tolkien's version of the Antichrist uses to communicate with his ally.
The Tech Bro world is full of people who centre their belief system around - often misunderstood - Science Fiction and Fantasy ideas.

FoM is not an issue in the SPS agreement talks. What is an issue is that UK farmers want exceptions from alignment - pesticides and precision breeding (a type of gene editing) are two areas that I know of, there might be more.

With "they" I meant - in this case - Russia, not the USA. Crazy times that I have to specify that.

The included the GDP of all the countries they want to annex.

Team Trump was fine with the deal before traitors Farage & Badenoch asked them to change their mind.

Given the impact of the Epstein scandal on the British establishment, could it be that, in a year's time, Andy Burnham will be president of the United Republic of GB & NI?
February 5, 2026 at 9:55 PM
In yesterday's PMQs there was a request for carve out of precision breeding from an SPS deal. Obviously, the more exceptions are requested, the longer negotiations will take, up to the point where there are too many exceptions for an agreement to be workable.

Well, the UK currently has a land border with a country that both is in and understands the EU.

It's remarkable how, almost 10 years since the start of the Brexit process, most of the British - both anti- & pro-EU - still don't have a clue (and apparently don't care to find out) how the EU works.

An example in the political area was Cameron moaning that NAFTA didn't have freedom of movement of work, totally not getting that NAFTA also didn't have freedom of movement of goods.

A main reason was in my opinion that a lot of the benefits of the EU weren't identified as having to do anything with the EU - a close look at trading outside the EU would have easily corrected that view. 2/3

A lot of them said quite the opposite, because they weren't bothered to look into the consequences of leaving the EU - I attended some presentations in the insurance industry with the tenor "everything will go on as before". 1/3

"Unexpected import charges" - I'm pretty sure these were applied to third countries way back before the Brexit vote, soI cannot see how they were not to be expected.

It's "Good-bye Lenin", and this is almost an excellent comparison. But towards the end of the film we find out that the mother was aware of the injustices of the system, and I don't think elderly Brexiteers have any level of awareness whatsoever.
