Likely the main reason for this is an “active investigation” presents an obstacle to releasing the files, and while he would like to cause any dems he can pain, it’s mainly a defensive maneuver.

This headline is so bad it insults anyone who reads it. None of his efforts have anything to do with reducing crime beyond using them as a fig leaf for authoritarian power grabs.

Listened to the interview now. His argument against CarPlay starts as an argument in favor of CarPlay Ultra (as Johanna calls out), then wanders off into AI hype BS and kinda putters out.

"Do you want the Apple brand to start the car? Do you want the Apple brand to limit the speed? Do you want the Apple brand to limit access?” Yes, but I disagree with framing it as limiting, automakers will limit features so they can sell subscriptions that Apple would include out-of-the-box.
