The age of leaders increases more rapidly than the age of the population: here seen as the share over 65 for both leaders and the population.

We would see the same trend if we look at the mean, median, within country, and so on.

🚨Amazing work by @csmapnyu.org now out in Nature. Must read for anyone interested in misinformation. tl;dr popular interventions encouraging to search for information to verify may inadvertently increase(!) belief in misinformation because of low quality search results!

Can searching for false news increase belief in misinformation? Yes, by approximately 20 percent, according to our new paper, out today in @natureportfolio.bsky.social. In addition, this phenomenon is concentrated among individuals for whom search engines return lower quality information.
