I'm here to listen to good people who know stuff I don't. If someone really misses the ball, I block. No matter who follows them. On occasion, I proffer my own opinions and expect to be blocked in turn by those who find my views unpalatable.

News is quite depressing. For once, though, YT got something right and this popped up: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXcF...

Looking in from the outside, I admit I don't really understand the fascination with Mamdani. I get the arguments for and against. But he's not Cuomo or Adams. He does seem to have pulled a big one on Trump. Seems hilarious to me. But now some people feel betrayed. Help me out here. #MamdaniTrump

The absolute adulation of much of the English speaking world for their military is baffling.

Today, I have learned there is someone called Bari Weiss. I had never heard of this person before. I trust some of the people I follow here enough to conclude I don't need to know, other than to mark her name as tainted.

Next US citizen who tells me 'this is not who we are' is going to get a pie in their face. You cannot say that phrase and expect your political opinion to be taken seriously. Seriously!

Much of the world had their fingers crossed hoping Harris would be the next president. Much of the world prepared for her not to be, because... the US.

In the wake of CK's demise, some of the folk I follow here have been posting something like 'White on White crime is a problem, they should sort out their communities' And it's easy to see where they're coming from. And I agree. Looking in from the outside,

"I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure," Clarence Darrow. I didn't know who Clarence Darrow was until I looked for this quote, which I'd come across some while ago, because the spirit of it seems... suited to the times.

Looking in from the outside, I cannot help but notice a lot of people feel very bad for Kirk's two children. His two children are alive. Unlike, for instance those kids that got killed at Evergreen High, about whom those same people are eerily quiet. The US harbours some mighty strange people.

Everybody condemning political violence. Fine it should be condemned. But, as far as I'm aware, they don't know who did it, so we don't know the motive for the shooting. May just be someone pissed of at Kirk because he stole their parking space.

No one's called the disappearing of people in broad daylight 'political violence'. Or even the storming of the US Capitol. Or the killing of 11 people on a boat. Or the murder of two Democrats. (Well, a little bit perhaps, but not for longer than two days)

I'm not always fond of where I live, but I'm grateful that US tourist rarely show up. They're going to be great spreaders of disease, the way things are going.

Once more, as so very often, other people are saying what needs to be said far better than I ever could. So once more I'll just post some music that always gives me a little lift, hoping it'll do the same for them : www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEfI...

It has occurred to me several times over the last however many decades, that 'stupid' is not the opposite of 'intelligent'. Today I wondered if that had ever occurred to anyone else. And of course it had. I found this article, I thought it was an interesting read: psyche.co/ideas/why-so...
Why some of the smartest people can be so very stupid | Psyche Ideas
Struggling to understand is perfectly honourable. Being wilfully stupid is something else and we should strive to fix it

There are no distractions. It's everything all at once. Has anyone actually read P2025? For real? Not like 'Yeah, I read 1984', but you really read it?

Looking in from the outside, it's pitiful how some folk in the US get there knickers all in a twist because of some 'leftist' (lol) young bloke is running for Mayor in NYC when two of his biggest opponents are known to be corrupt, deceitful and misogynist.

Well, much of what I'd like to say is already being said by others and better than I could. So, I thought to start posting music that has influenced and inspired me over the past 50 odd years (and many of them were very odd indeed) www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJWA...

With the vaccination mandates under attack, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world is going to deny people from the US entry into their countries without extensive health checks. No tourism for the US, no tourism from the US. A very effective isolationist policy.
September 5, 2025 at 9:24 AM
So... in the US you can get into deep trouble for, oh, I don't know, saying Nazis should all fucking die already, but the government can kill people willy nilly at home and abroad.

Well, we did it again! A while back during lockdown, some people took up daytime drinking as a new hobby. I wrote a song about it, and finally finished it: soundcloud.com/fuggydiddled...

Well, aside from everything else that's going on, I, for one, can't wait for chayote season. And cavolo nero (the closest Italian relative to collard greens) season.

It must be football/ soccer season somewhere. Blocking folks left, right and centre.

I understand people are waiting for the obituary. I do too. However, it would also piss me off: he'd have lived his entire evil life without ever having been held accountable. Also, consider how quickly, and efficiently, the US gvmt has been dismantled. You cannot seriously believe that was him.
