In 1975 on the most popular radio station in the NY NJ & CT area - WNEW FM - polled its listeners to determine the most popular bands - Led Zeppelin was 1st - in 2nd Renaissance

Saw them a few times and they were an experience

Their live at Carnegie hall album is, for me, a desert island choice.

2 movies - Downfall and Conspiracy - so many movies have been produced about supernatural entities that are frightening BUT the real horrors in this world is portrayed in these movies. Movies portraying true, honest ta god, absolute evil.

When Sam Gamgee / Sean Astin sits on a park bench reading a letter where he learns he's been accepted into Notre Dame is my favorite scene
As a not so really large person who once played that game (high school, not college) which is usually chock full of oversized angry young men, I related

Close to the Edge from Yessongs is an excellent piece of music from a very talented group of young (at the time) musicians

Blue Sky from the Allman Bros is a song for a beautiful summer day

Sugar Magnolia by the Dead can transport an old f&$k like myself back to the days of a wild carefree youth.

I watched Close Encounters in 77 when I was 19 and LOVED it - I was envious of Roy Neary - what an adventure.

Watched it again decades later with my kids and realized the bastard abandoned his wife and kids. It was 2 different movies.
No longer a fan.

The Long Walk - from what I understand, it is the first story Stephen King ever wrote. It is a classic King story with his familiar formula.
With King more oft than not there is usually a need for a sacrifice.

I liked it.

I got nothing - I'm Irish - it is said God made the Irish mad, because all their wars are merry, and all their songs are sad.

That's "mad" as in crazy.

I would appreciate the podcast tip thank you - I am presently hooked on The Rest is History podcast with British historians Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook - getting the British perspective on the Revolutionary War has been a fun listen.

Watched House of Dynamite last night and thought it was excellent.

Of the Cold War movies of my youth there was none better than the 1964 Fail Safe and House of Dynamite movie is a 2025 look at what or response might be to a nuclear situation and how we might possibly react and our capabilities.

Dune - Sega Genesis

Nothing worse than building your complex and then hearing a death hand missile was on the way - nothing to do but hold your breath, squint, hope it misses your essential buildings.
Filthy Harkonnen bastards!!

Loved that game.

It was a great day - seeing people demonstrating that same rebellious tenacity that once tossed the king's goods into Boston harbor.
People raising OUR flag and again stating "this flag dips to no earthly king."

These were not those who were once labeled loyalist.

Americans do not bend the knee.
