Where you may see general condition I see distinction. Not to diminish but to give everyone their due respect. I see my commonalities with other demographics of women but I also see what makes their experience belong to them.

That's where my view is informed by.

And I appreciate if that's not you

1. Re: That's great but doesn't change the way I was treated or exhibited for likes.

2. Re:
I see misogynoir as distinct in American media. Doesn't mean we're worlds apart but my values taught me to respect distinction between all lives.

Does my difference warrant invalidating me or being petty?

"Sis, it's still Japanese animation"

It's what I said that set her off of me as racist towards Japan.

Koreans are used to this from English internet. Usually NA ppl who identify progressive and validate U.S BIPOC not having neutral views of white people. But Koreans must show equanimity to Japan

I don't even care if they don't think same that media reflects dominant culture and the way women relate to misogyny anywhere shows up in relevant ways in location relevant media, despite global overlaps.

But I do have history here ok? And I never insulted who disagreed bc idk them and it's cruel.
October 19, 2025 at 3:49 AM
Yeah, we're biased. And soft power geopolicy game ensure that if I show my bias I get called names by people who've never stepped a foot in my home.

So now I got SI for all day and have panic attacks over someone leveraging followers to mock me for trying to politely communicate my experience.

It's really sickening how people use their love towards anime as a justification to act as if it's Korean people who are racist. And for what? Bc I said anime revolves around men because it reflects Japan specific misogyny.

But I guess we're a biased people so that makes our views invalid.

U never know who that person is you're sending at. Sorry I set you off. Enjoy the anime I hope it brings you joy and comfort in these hard times 🫂

Oh... Okay. Thanks for your patience with me. Have a nice day
October 18, 2025 at 6:58 PM
I tried to tell you my lived experience as someone with generations of trauma and death from Japanese partriarcy. I appreciate you taken time to respond. We don't see the same. That's okay, normal.

But you've called me "slow", "Amerikkkan", "Orientalist" and I will hear those words replay all day.
October 18, 2025 at 6:31 PM
The reasons behind why Korean patriarchy does what it does to kpop women cannot be related to an American experience. The cultural background from which that came and the motivations and context are different. What I experience in the U.S is not the same as what I got when Iived in Tokyo.
October 18, 2025 at 6:06 PM
The answer of "it revolves around men due to partriarchy" is not why Anime revolves around men in the way it does. The women who are affected have facets to their lived experience that are unique to where it happened. These have to be accounted for.
October 18, 2025 at 6:02 PM
You're right.
Specificity is bias. But bias is inherently 'wrong'. Accountability couldn't exist without specificity.

My grandmother's sisters didn't die as teenagers because of some untargeted sexual slavery. My father didn't get only one year in prison for rape because of every judiciary system.
October 18, 2025 at 5:59 PM
No you should feel shame for trying to shut me up ab my own colonizers. You don't get to.

America is erasing trans people. The 'norm' is that trans people aren't included and media not representing trans people is accurate to what the dominant hegemony is trying to do right now and successfully so.
October 18, 2025 at 5:40 PM
WTH?

Anime? Japanese media. Japan? Patriarchal. Anime reflects the norms of the people who make it. You asked why Anime about women often revolves around men for no reason. I said it's Japanese.

A media reflects it's culture. Countries have similar issues but Japan's problems aren't France's. Wtf
October 18, 2025 at 5:29 PM
.... What does declining birth rates have to do with gender power balance?? And what scenario am I laying out?

I said "it's still Japanese" when she asked why Anime ab women still often revolves around men.

That's just what society is like in NE Asia. Women are expected to orbit around men.
October 18, 2025 at 5:13 PM
My name is not actually Artemisia. Nor am I even second generation American. My name is Hyejin.

Idk why you responded so toxically when I'm not even insulting you?

You were purposely being antagonistic and I called you out on it. Clearly you did not take it well.
October 18, 2025 at 4:56 PM
So, you asked specifically why Anime, Japanese media, seems to commonly revolve around men and I said "it's still Japanese" bc that's the norm there. aand that was ...

Blaming global patriarchical normativity "purely because of Japan"?

Are we even speaking the same language here?
October 18, 2025 at 4:40 PM
Respectfully, I see a Nirvana fallacy (“name universally progressive feminist media”), strategic concession (can be not animation), selected exceptions (mahou shojou), and whataboutism w white women.

Japan's media reflects its own gender norms. It's not problematic to point that out.

Have a day.
