She's uneasy, but not panicked. Following her gaze, you see a short figure lurking in a shadowed corner of the tavern, cloak still damp with rain. Their hood is up, but they're enthusiastically tucking into a plate of roast chicken. Pretty benign as mysterious strangers in taverns go.

She nods approvingly and her hand shifts away from the discreet cudgel on her belt.

"Three different kinds," she says. "Barkeep has delusions of grandeur for this dive."

Her gaze darts away from you for a moment, and her expression goes stiff.

This is an adventurers' tavern, and the barmaids are less "feisty" than they are "trained combatants" who don't take kindly to troublemakers. One, a bronze dragonborn with a nasty scar over her left eye, turns to you and says "You got a problem, bub?"

That line in that context says SO MUCH. It's a brilliant use of sexy dialogue to establish character and relationship dynamics.

I think it's more Lan's whole face that gets me, whereas Liandrin's cheekbones stand out as truly magnificent. The has a face with so much character. Also, good at acting.

She and Pike are INCREDIBLE in their scenes together. IMO, the episode you're watching has the best stuff out of both seasons of this generally good show.
