I have two Rotham's Football Yearbooks in my bookshelf from 1996-97 and 1998-99.

Ah, so they need to be more Leslie Knope - gotcha!

I work in local government (and I'm a candidate for city council in the elections here in two weeks to boot) and I liked the show and Leslie Knope's character. Does that mean I'll now be burned on some sort of pyre and I have to relinquish my identity as a socialdemocrat? :-D

That is indeed how we'll take over the world 😁

Always interesting reading your studied perspective :-)

To what degree do you think both Davies and the players underestimated us and our threat?

I remember reading some data on general population numeracy and it's honestly mad(dening). I'm not a math-sy person, I just like numbers, but it took me aback and made me think differently about data analysis+viz

I sometimes find "1 in X" data presentation is a shortcut to creating understanding?

Interestingly this is (from recollection) one of the things that led to bad will against him from fans at Brøndby (including the couldn't-make-it-up-story of Frank's departure coming after it became public the chairman had used his son's fan forum login to slate Frank (again, from recollection).

It worked the other way here in Denmark: Implementing immigration policies from socialdemocrats that acquiesced with 70-80% of the electorate made the salience of the issue less with voters and the perception that there was an agreement/consensus about the policy area.

Slightly related to this: Kids football in Denmark, 5-a-side and I think the first few years of 8-a-side, it's in the rules that the other team has to retreated behind the halfway line before a the game is restarted from a goal kick. To foster a more possession-based buildup and a technique focus.

'How many players was it we had again?'

(Saw a similar image, and often, last season with Danny Röhl at ours at Wednesday; the difference being he often found solutions playing with his magnets that flipped the game for us!)

Håber dælme det der med at fnise i krogene er en saga blott - jeg oplever i al fald, at folk efterhånden er anderledes positive, når man siger man er aktiv i Hjemmeværnet, end for bare et par år siden.

Football Manager-ing it.

The best album ever made (if you ask me) :-)

I'm hearing it's been rubbished at Boro's end.

I've already boarded my longship and sharpened my axe here in Denmark, Henrik - where do you want us to board and plunder, I mean extract Danegeld, next? :-D

It hurts like a bastard, that's for sure. I've been a fan since 1992 and I can't recall being this void of pre-season enthusiasm. There's a collective depression in the fan base and apathy rules anger (for now).

EFL won't do anything. Looking at Independent Regulator to make us test case no. 1 🙏
July 31, 2025 at 7:19 AM
It's a depressing time for us all, isn't it? And football was supposed to be our breather from a world out of sorts. At least some of the gallow's humour cheers me up - and (too) faint a hope that the new Independent Regulator will want to set their stall out and we've propped up as test case no. 1.

So you should! We call it vild med vilje over here, and it'll hopefully gather pace as a movement. Directly translated 'wild on purpose' (or, better: 'Wild with a will'). Insect populations are plummeting and suburban petit bourgeois property preening definitely isn't helping. So we fight back :-)

Or to buy Sheffield Wednesday

(beggars can't be choosers etc.)

(and I agree, it's really interesting and needs good scientific heads to get involved much more - but they may be scared off by the freaks and the poisonous discourse)

I've not got access to The Economist, but did they use fertility rates by the usual definition here? In that case there may be an undetected 'delaying time of bearing children' effect that the standard fertility rate way of calculating doesn't pick up (big collective shift in first time births).
