PM in film, Vancouver & Toronto, hi!
My biggest issue these days is dim projections 50% of the time. Big chains, big auditoriums and yet whites that are grayish silver and the lower 30% are just black.

I've tried to stick with laser projections and IMAX, but that only covers 20% of the movies I'm interested in.

Thankful that yesterday's screening had good brightness! I was really worried after so many disappointing theater experiences these days

Saw it in Toronto and loved it oh so much. Sadly theatres here are only screening it for two days, but I'm happy I got to share it with a lovely audience on a beautiful day. Heaps of thank yous for this✨

He's so haunted and vampiric! I thought the poster was a bit cheaply exaggerated, but no, he looks like that in the show. I loved it. Also: the camera work is beautiful.

That's not what Brooks wrote though. Brooks writes in third person - conservatives say.. and then follows up with his explanation afterwards (not books, but a failure to create a more equal & plural America)

I just read the Brooks piece and that's in third person. Brooks is quoting others, and follows up with a different explanation himself. I loved the article, but that leaves a bit of a sour taste.

I work in Film, and on my first PA gig, when asked to grab an apple box, I tried to sort out a car to get to the grocery store stat. (And I think it’s actually a pretty common story!)

Didn’t the judge differentiate between training (internal use) and publishing/profiting from the models though? I thought whilst training was answered, selling models based on copywrited work wasn't.

But also: that riff is just mind-bogglingly good. And with those exact drums: perfect. Nasty, pushing forward, and yet just a bit off-kilter.

Those drums indeed!!! Love them. Aaand on that note: Alison’s starting to happen

I love your posts so much. Thank you for this, and all the other ones. Super thoughtful and inspiring. 💛

I agree, I think it’s a leap similar to CLI -> GUI/mouse. Going from current input models to language is huge. I know, things go off the rails often, but today I was following along Gemini looking up documentation & doing math on the final hight of a frame tv mounted to a rolling stand and it was 🔥.

This is really lovely. Thanks for sharing, and lucky you!

And Birth! That opening piece.. oh man, he's the best. Hope you had fun

Love it heaps, though I wish I could disable hdr. Too much brightness feels like a loss in observable nuance to me. Oh, and my usual plug for ProCamera - allows for the granular disabling of processing steps, and has a lovely slide to focus tool. It's the best.

I saw that when it came out at the movies! At 16. Mind blown 😊🙃. I love Greenaway so much. From the same era: have you seen Leolo?

I can also see the rude version: people lecturing you on something they believe you're doing wrong. Imagine someone saying: I'm not ok with nudity, or I'm not ok with same sex couples. Those people I'd ignore though, they're just imposing their worldview on everybody else. They suck!

Fingers crossed 🤞
