Just a sober, cat-ranching man with a wife and a kid and a juris doctor who may or may not be six and a half feet tall and weigh an eighth of a ton.
Exactly. We raised our kid with "This is not to my taste" as the go-to SOD (Signifier Of Dislike).

We had cats and a dog, some chickens, and a few sheep. There were foxes and great horned owls and in the winter, when the sheep were in the barn having lambed, my mother and I would watch the tiny flying squirrels glide down to the feed-trough to feast on crumbs of sheep feed.

Saint Bourdain would forgive you.

MAN, but do I love people getting upset that a cuisine is simply not to someone's taste. "How dare you not like something that I like" is a very odd flex.

AWW HELL YEAH! That is a spectacular achievement; congratulations!

I lived in Manhattan from the late 1960s to the mid-70s, when my parents moved us to a farmhouse in Massachusetts surrounded by hundreds of acres of land. Since then I've lived in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, deep Nor-Cal forest, and my current suburban city.

I like the woods. I miss them.

I ride acoustic bikes on roads, gravel, and singletrack for recreation and commuting, and the only issues of any sort that I've had with ebikes, unicycles, etc. is being startled by riders who don't call out before they pass. All the local whining is a variant of "those damn kids these damn days."

I MASSIVELY prefer rural areas to the suburban area I'm in now, and to the urban areas in which I've lived in the past.

If I can see the neighbor's lights through the trees in winter, they're too close.

Yes. And as for you, well... TO THE GULAG!

True, though it's not nearly as sad if they're TikTok influencers.

Racism has a remarkable blinding effect on a lot of people.

Well, a lot of racists, anyway.

Well, there's that whole union thing to deal with. Firing the chief while the PBA keeps every bad cop on the job doesn't do much good.

"Romanucci said Baker had accumulated 11 misconduct complaints in three years, a record worse than 95% of Chicago police officers."

And Chicago PD is horrible - HORRIBLE.

Actual audible evil chortle from me - thank you, sir.

"Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member."

I mean, the arrest could certainly be unrelated but if not, an arrest-worthy "inappropriate relationship" is usually called 'sexual assault.'

I was almost run down today while walking in a crosswalk in a hospital parking lot.

I had enough time to jump back as the driver rolled into the space I occupied AND to get their attention by kicking their fucking BMW. If I'd been on a bike I probably would have gone over their shiny white hood.
