Bitch on wheels, writer, educator, queer, leftist, abolitionist, advocate, & mama. A leading expert on collecting problematic white women.

I'm also a recent survivor of long-term domestic abuse. My trauma will become systemic change. Just gimme a minute.

I theorize this timeline only exists because a bitter, misanthropic horror writer tried to pen the Great American Novel in one RedBull & nicotine fueled week; but day two a fat cell in his back popped & leaked latent DMT into his bloodstream & the Trump/Musk/Vance/DOGE monstrosity poofed into being.
Being a single mom to a heart baby, a recent survivor of DV, & profoundly disabled--I feel this in my (v. fucked up) bones.

I know I have both talent and skill to benefit my community and society--I've proven that on a national stage. But we get written off as damaged goods so easily.
One of the hardest parts of being disabled, I think, is knowing that you deserve the support to thrive and be successful, but knowing deep in your bones that you probably won’t get it.

TW: animal abuse, ICE

This goodest boy is Chop. He was killed when an ICE agent intentionally let him out of the bathroom he was shut in for agents' safety, and shot him. ICE had been responding to a tip about the previous tenants who moved 2yrs ago.

My tween just came to me and said, "Mama, I just read something that I really loved. It says, 'I've never met an apolitical person who wasnt either a closeted conservative, or someone who simply doesn't care because they're a privileged, conceited, asshole.' Isn't that SO GOOD?"

I think a major issue is how hard people fight to not identify with people in non-normative bodies. It prevents their empathy from reaching us, and stops with the closest abled person...even if that person inarguably abused me and traumatized our kid.

"Well, of course he snapped. Poor guy."
This week our judge told my abuser that he was in a "tough place" (unable to abandon me per law) and to "keep his chin up."

People have ALWAYS spoken like this about me.

It lets him get away with a LOT, because his rage aimed at me is expected. Poor guy, stuck with a defective.

Random YTer: "this guy could have died, or ended up paralyzed--which is a fate worse than death."

DON'T DO THIS. STOP.

There are a ton of people I don't want to be like, everything from gender to belief systems to height. But I don't *tell them*. Why is this so acceptable for #disabledpeople? 1/

A new character was just intro'd into the (current) #1 fandom of my pre-teen's friendgroup. He's generally assumed to be elderly, but a friend who's absorbed lots of my kid's #anti-ableism said to her: "they're only saying that because of his cane. He *could* be disabled, you know. 🙄"

These kids.💜

It never fails to stagger me how little the system actually cares about the experience and reality of victims.

We have DECADES of data on the results of domestic violence trauma, and yet victims get penalized for showing even a hint of evidence that they're traumatized.

There is nothing revolutionary in me stating that social media has allowed us to progress faster as a society; it can be as simple as the fact that in any given moment there are more conversations happening than at any other time in history. More information is being shared each moment.

I was telling my 12yo daughter this morning what things were different in schools prior to the 80s, and she stops me. "Mama, who was president in the 80s?"

Then her hand flies up and she says:

"Wait. Don't tell me. It was Reagan, wasn't it? It's ALWAYS Reagan when you tell me these things." 🤣

And representation isn't just important for us. The way my kid's face lit up seeing adult Nessarose...

I mean yeah, it was great to see her so thrilled. At the same time, it shouldn't be so rare that all she cares about is "wheelchair actor!"

But like, I'm her *mom*.
