Yeah, but I'm really impressed with transit and trains in Shanghai. Also, I'm not getting any younger and the world's not getting any better, so best seize the opportunity while I can.

Wow, you're brave aka a glutton for punishment 😂. When you first started posting about this you got me excited to travel again, I lost the thrill after lockdown. Currently planning Shanghai to Bangkok all rail this August.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who finds it really moving. That section where the narrator recalls the last time he spoke to his mother really got to me when I recently re-read it. Also, final section when he watches Sonny play -- simply amazing!

We talked for over an hour last night about book 1, Dawn, and agreed it was one of the wildest and also thought provoking sci fi novels either of us had read. We also recorded the conversation, I'll put on YT soon.
