a friend gave me a new(ish) issue of the fan club magazine for a band I've loved for a long time, but only follow casually by now.
feeling nice and nostalgic, but also disturbed by how said fav band member's way of explaining things has weaseled its way into my research 💀

just tagged along to see some friends who are big fans, but I was thoroughly entertained tonight.
musicians going out into the crowd aren't all that unusual at my usual kind of show, but straight into the pit with a mike if you're that short is a choice

still, seeing cheap versions of the same pieces they actually fought unauthorized copies for for decades? weird.

"vivienne would've NEVER"? she already did. at the very least when her brand signed licensing contracts with lots of small goods makers and added sub-labels in japan in the 90s. they needed money, because of mismanagement and looming bankruptcy. those are still there, towels and stockings and all.

- picked cheaper materials, omitted linings etc on rereleases of pieces that were widely documented/referenced beforehand as parts of the mangaka's own VW collection
- and did all of that using the name of the one big designer who wrote "buy less crap" on their entry-level pieces

I'll regret going when I have to wake up in uhh about 5 hours from now, but smiles and dancing people all around!
