In a future where self-driving cars take over taxi and Uber driver jobs, the redundant employees will all get together to play Crazy Taxi. I can see it.

Funny how cel-shaded games from the 6th gen consoles are looked back on so fondly, when at the time these were overlooked for more 'realistic' and grungy aesthetics, which have aged poorly by comparison. While Auto Modelista, Zelda the Wind Waker, and Okami in particular have all aged like fine wine

Re-vinyl as long as you can replicate the print and finish.

Retro gaming and indie games are the future, for as long as the AAA industry is financially attractive enough for the corporate suits and their shareholders to cling to an artform they otherwise have no interest in.

Having enjoyed plenty of 4 player gaming on the N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Xbox, it was tough to move on to the 7th gen consoles. I still remember browsing games in a game store and my disbelief when I saw the ’Number of players: 1 (online: 2-8)’ on the back of Burnout Paradise… a RACING GAME!

Luigi's Mansion, with the lights out, room lit only by the dim glow eminating from the CRT TV... and experiencing those Nintendo Gamecube 🎮 L+R triggers through the Poltergust 3000. If you know, you know. This game was criminally overlooked in its time because everyone wanted Mario 128 🙄

It's mentioned quite frequently, like almost daily, in the Arcade Racers feed I put up a while back:

The best ones! And two very different games in their own way... both are a must!

Video game companies are like Chihiro's parents in Spirited Away. Success transforms them into something else, something unrecognisable to the thing you once loved dearly.

Interesting. I wonder what Ridge Racer would be like now if they did go with T-Square inspired jazz fusion. It's the direction Sega Rally took, while most racing games in the mid-late 90s went with drum'n'bass and jungle. Racing games and music are like made for eachother, and define one another.

Fact!

Haha. Understandable. For me it's mostly been just a Sega Rally machine of late tbh. Been keeping the floodwater at bay, so far! 🤞

Sadly it was a Japan-only release that came bundled with Sega Rally 2006. However if you have a modded PS2 or an MC2SIO / MX4SIO SDcard-PS2 memory card adapter, (or the PCSX2 emulator on PC), you can play the ROM.

It’s an addictive little game 😄 I’ve not yet tried MT on the Saturn/PC version yet (should do that soon!), mostly been playing the PS2 port of the Model 2 arcade game lately… it’s a great port and worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Yep, that's exactly what it comes down to... more control. I find that most of Lakeside if you stick to 3rd gear and tap the gas to drift around corners, you're far less likely to hit the walls. There's only 2 straight segments where you use 4th, and maybe 1 or 2 tight bends where you go down to 2nd

Growing up I always played this in AT, but more recently I've learned to play in MT and it's a whole different game! In desert it doesn't make much of a difference as the whole course is in 4th gear, but Mountain and particularly Lakeside actually become easier, and you extract a lot more lap time.

Curious. Would you happen to remember which article/what publication it was in?

Loved Code Veronica too! And I did like the original RE2, just couldn't get into the remake. I wish they had remade it in the same vein as the Resident Evil 1 remake on Gamecube, it modernised it without losing the essence of the franchise.
