We can work to create socialist countries, but not a communist ones

Question. Who in this system decides who is ok and who isn’t?
Fidel Castro government killed about 10000 people and held political prisoners (Amnesty International). Face it, communism globally failed. Even if its theory is right, this systems didn’t survive, mostly turned into regimes.

Try sth new, just don't name it communism, it's a very specific historical term
November 13, 2025 at 5:05 PM
Communism was achieved, it was a regime. If Marx had seen what they did he would be terrified, bc it wasn't what he meant. Just as you can say swastika is a symbol of luck used by nazis you can also say communism was a never achieved state. Communism happened, it was a bad regime system.

That's my point, communism is just as bad as capitalism. They are both systems that enprison normal people. No one here talks capitalism is good, I just want to clarify that communism and socialism are two different things, and hammer with scythe are symbols of communism, the regime, not socialism

It was a regime built on false promise of equality and care, just like capitalism is a system built on false promise of good life for hard work and acting economically. Only people on top had good life, but instead of CEOs, politicians they were top members of communist party and military

Also, all phone calls were wired, post was read, goverment cotrolled the communication
November 13, 2025 at 4:05 PM
Oh, and you had to pay hidden costs for everything. Bribing and corruption were at its best then in every public institution (standard across all communist countries)
November 13, 2025 at 4:01 PM
Communists controlled people, they didn't help them
November 13, 2025 at 3:57 PM
killing other cultures (again forcing Romanies to abandon their travel culture, they demanded people to abandon any practise that wasn't part of communist agenda, also communists killed many historians, scientists, teachers just for having a knowledge) and sooo on
November 13, 2025 at 3:53 PM
free speech ban (for saying sth bad about police, military or what's worse about Stalin or party you were sent to prison, work camp or even killed), destruction of society (propaganda encouraged people to report on everyone, Pawlik Morozow, a communist saint was praised for reporting his own father)
November 13, 2025 at 3:53 PM
Workers exploitation (in factories/mines daily quotas were sometimes impossible to gain, people had to work in horrible conditions without any protection), workaholism (praise of working more, and more and more), Censorship (every text, book, speech, movie or music was censored by institution)
November 13, 2025 at 3:53 PM
Surveillance, brutal police used as tool for rich (party members and military), Intentional use of famine (Great Hunger of Ukraine), Taking people homes and relocations (exiles to Siberia, dislodgings after WW2, stripping land from farmers), work camps (you could be sent to camp for almost anything)

welcome back, get well soon!!
November 13, 2025 at 12:13 AM
Also, telling someone that you know their history and culture better - that is a post-colonialism scheme of white hero saving too stupid to understand anything natives
November 12, 2025 at 11:54 PM
I'm sorry, but I can't see any outcome of this dialogue. I just wanted to say that everything you possibly hate Capitalism for, Communist Party did same things, just used other carrot to lure people. Symbol u used is symbol of regime party, not socialism
November 12, 2025 at 11:54 PM
well, in Poland we have whole National Memory Institute, created to preserve this knowledge, where there are thousands upon thausands such stories, you're welcomed to read those.
November 12, 2025 at 11:40 PM
I live in Poland, it's quite good here. I heard that Denmark is a good place either.
November 12, 2025 at 11:37 PM
I am from Poland, my grandfather was a political prisoner of the communist party for taking part in "Solidarność" a Workers Union that demanded from communist government better conditions for workers to live. This is story of my family, my country

Socialism is good, people should have free healthcare and safety from government. But Communism used it as a carrot on stick to get power, and they used it in terrible way.
