Unless you really want a specific colorway, or desire 3D, the 2ds XL has an easier to access sd card, has the clamshell design, and I believe has an overall longer battery life. Would recommend getting a telescoping stylus though, the default one is ass.

2DS XL is fantastic if you want to mod it out (it's super easy to do). If you want to play classic ds/gba games DS lite is always a knockout and flashcarts are easy to acquire.
