This winter I started 1600 native seeds in trays. The vast majority were seeds collected originally from local ecotype sources. Many of the classics, bergamot, New England, foxglove, but also trying mayapple and wild geranium. Fingers crossed. #nativeplants

Native beds all cleaned up for spring. So many early bloomers coming in strong - blue flags, foxglove, golden Alexander’s, Appalachian Jacob’s ladder. The monardas and mountain mints look like they are going to be huge this year. All of these plants are seed grown from local eco type.

Honey bees are domesticated animals introduced from Europe — and aren't endangered, unlike many of North America's over 3600 species of native bees. Honey bees crowd out native bees from food & spread diseases to them. Instead of adding another hive, plant native flowers!
