Slowing reaching for sunlight.
That's where the little guy in Tool's "Sober" video lives.

Based on the tv set, it looks like it is set in the 90s too

So that's why he can never remember seeing anything, it's always buried under butter and syrup in a different waffle cell

It's honestly the most logical inference.

Or even more subtle than that - the batman was pretty far away and almost half the people who moved didn't recall seeing him. So it's more like a vibe shift in the car causes people to focus on the people around them, and then take action

Yeah, in the experiment the batman enters the car in a different door than the woman and is further away than in the picture, so they claim it's not about directly modeling the hero's behavior.

It would be interesting to replicate with something less heroic like a banana costume or a giant pet.

interestingly, the theory in the paper is that it's not the superhero per se, but that unexpected events in general increase mindfulness and thus pro-social behavior

so it's not that people are scared of batman, it's that seeing batman knocks them out of their general stupor

It's not only charisma, though, it's also because Mamdani has clear and consistent values. His supporters simply aren't worried about him selling them out.

Compare to Eric Adams, who is only in that room for his own interest, or Dem "moderates" who would be there to bash the left for centrist cred.
