It makes sense that it feels good to help others. It's not the reason we do it, but I think it's a sign that we are doing something healthy. The fact that people internalize the suffering and joy of others just shows that people are meant to be in solidarity and cooperation with each other.

The "rise" of fascism in the US is just the white population beginning to experience what has always existed in their society for Black and brown people. It is an ideology of blame and exclusion and now it's simply expanding its exclusion beyond the previous racial boundaries.

Does it bother anyone else that the aliens in sci-fi television are so culturally and politically boring? They're basically Western society but space. There are human societies that are way more "alien" to the current mainstream world than Klingons, Minbari, or Luxans...

Just a friendly reminder that the US hasn't been invaded since 1812 but has gone to war hundreds of times since then.

Anti-ecological ideologies seem to start in despiritualizing the universe.
If non-human things are worthless in themselves, it is okay, even virtuous, to cut open the earth for mining, or clear forests, to "kill" the planet, because that is how to give it value - visibility as a material commodity.
