In Germany, if you are at your workplace for more than 10 hours and an accident occurs, then your insurance doesn’t cover you. And that includes commuting back home. Perhaps there is something similar there that could be used as an argument?

Why? Why would someone do that? The only thing I can imagine is if the student doesn’t perform well in the 1st year, they won’t renew the contract. But this is totally absurd!
