They worked handling wastewater from fracking operations, and were told they could make good money by helping keep an important industry clean and environmentally friendly. Induction stoves are better for your health than gas but can be pricey. The West Philly Tool Library recently acquired a pair for members to "test-drive" and showed them off in an event featuring PSR PA's Dr. Dan Woulk, who uses one for his own cooking.
