When CDs came out and people found them 'sterile', that's because they reproduced the sound without the distortion

Peter Gabriel's So album needed the running order changed for LP because the bass repro is different depending on whether it's at the start or end. LPs actually *add* distortion (which is what you call 'warmth')

That's not really the whole story. In practice, many compromises are required in the mastering process because you can't exactly reproduce the sound. The bass has to be dialed down.
