It is a non-representational image, but I'll do my best. Imagine a rectangle of cloth coarsely woven from straw. Or, perhaps, an oil refinery from a long fallen empire that lies beneath a crust of sand. Or, maybe it is a maze of tiny, twisty passages. Alone they may seem all alike, but they worm their way through larger passages, which worm their way through larger passages, and so on, hinting at greater patterns at work. It's festive.
A tessellation of triangular, red tiles, slight offset to leave hexagonal gaps at the corner, slowly comes apart as it drifts over green clouds, just as, with the coming of the holidays, the hopes and dreams we started the year with dissolve into the long night of winter. It is practice for the eternal night that comes someday for us all. Merry Christmas!
